Then they could make it so that you only had to go online when you wanted to protect the map?
Yeah, I guess that's a good idea.
Your map's only at risk if you can go online anyway.

I think I'd still use some form of the traditional, corrupting method. Not only do they protect, but it really cuts the map size.

Id like to see all the wc3 units in sc2 editor, for the people who want to make midieval themed maps.

Then those people can just continue using Wc3.
I doubt wc3 models will be available (Well, maybe 1 or 2 might, like with wc3 and starcraft units)
Although, if people made some decent models and stuff, that'd be awesome :)

Whatever form of protection Blizz uses, they should either:

Hire the best hacker or six that they can find and have them try to crack it.

During beta, publicly release a protected map to the community and offer a (small) cash prize to someone who can crack it.

That will give them at least some indication of how long it will take the community to devise unprotection schemas.

It would also inspire more people to try to crack it, therefore get more people interested in unprotecting. It will also let people know that it is possible to open protected maps. Some people think protected maps cannot be open, no matter what on wc3.

I'd rather Blizzard makes a truly uncrackable system (barring a supercomp bruter).

I have read that blizzard will be using a USB key with some kind of 10 digit code that randomly changes every 10 minutes that will be used to secure b.net 2.0 accounts from being hacked.... so if they are going to that length for b.net then I assume they are going to have an atleast acceptable method for locking player made material.

Also there will be a converter for changing war3 models to the SC2 format.

Says who?
(Please provide link)

Says NOONE LOL

I misread the link I've posted about 5 times throughout this SC2 forum so far. It's down the bottom of the page.... but actually says there will not be a tool... I misread it because it seems like a stupid fact to put in there, damn the fool who asked it and wasted a perfectly good batch response

More Options in Quest Menu

I Wish there was room in the quest menu to add my full change log.
It doesn't allow enough room i think. For most people they may find it big enough as is, or useless. But for me If it could be increased some, then in games like dota that change alot over time, you could look throw the change log in the game, and not have to look them up online.

Well, unless each version's changelog is fairly long, there isn't really much of a problem (just separate each version's changelog into a separate 'quest'), even though there is an 860-character limit I believe

Perhaps even an additional menu/sub-menu for things like that, where you could have changelogs, map description, introduction to gameplay, and things like that

Meh, as long as the Object/Data Editor are good and user-friendly, and the scripting is still fairly understandable without being sh*t, and alot more Object/Data Editor properties are accessible through the scripting, I'd be happy enough :p

Also a better attachment system? Imgaine a ship with 6 archers on board, that could acturaly fire they're own projectiles and be placed in certain posistion...

Hmm, how do I change my signature?
  • tom_mai78101 tom_mai78101:
Signatures can be edit in your account profile. As for the old stuffs, I'm thinking it's because Blizzard is now under Microsoft, and because of Microsoft Xbox going the way it is, it's dreadful.

Crazy how much 3d printing has come in the last few years. Sad that it's not as easily modifiable though
  • Varine Varine:
I bought an Ender 3 during the pandemic and tinkered with it all the time. Just bought a Sovol, not as easy. I'm trying to make it use a different nozzle because I have a fuck ton of Volcanos, and they use what is basically a modified volcano that is just a smidge longer, and almost every part on this thing needs to be redone to make it work
  • Varine Varine:
Luckily I have a 3d printer for that, I guess. But it's ridiculous. The regular volcanos are 21mm, these Sovol versions are about 23.5mm
  • Varine Varine:
So, 2.5mm longer. But the thing that measures the bed is about 1.5mm above the nozzle, so if I swap it with a volcano then I'm 1mm behind it. So cool, new bracket to swap that, but THEN the fan shroud to direct air at the part is ALSO going to be .5mm to low, and so I need to redo that, but by doing that it is a little bit off where it should be blowing and it's throwing it at the heating block instead of the part, and fuck man
  • Varine Varine:
I didn't realize they designed this entire thing to NOT be modded. I would have just got a fucking Bambu if I knew that, the whole point was I could fuck with this. And no one else makes shit for Sovol so I have to go through them, and they have... interesting pricing models. So I have a new extruder altogether that I'm taking apart and going to just design a whole new one to use my nozzles. Dumb design.
  • Varine Varine:
Can't just buy a new heatblock, you need to get a whole hotend - so block, heater cartridge, thermistor, heatbreak, and nozzle. And they put this fucking paste in there so I can't take the thermistor or cartridge out with any ease, that's 30 dollars. Or you can get the whole extrudor with the direct driver AND that heatblock for like 50, but you still can't get any of it to come apart
  • Varine Varine:
Partsbuilt has individual parts I found but they're expensive. I think I can get bits swapped around and make this work with generic shit though
