@Inflicted Your right that multiplayer is becoming far more popular. Though I don't think you can accurately predict those who still play singleplayer (along with multiplayer or just single) unless you ask each gamer if they play any single player.

I'd love to know where you found out that. Don't guess please.

It wasn't a guess, but it also has no source. This is all in my personal experience. All of my friends are gamers, and each play to different extents. When we talk about gaming I have noticed that a few don't play multiplayer at all because they "prefer RPG's, and most good ones don't have online" (quoting one of my friends). Others only play multiplayer because all they really want is the enjoyment of beating other people. The rest say they enjoy both. So when I made the statement I did about people who limit themselves to only multiplayer is below 50%, it was all in personal experience. If you asked everybody playing a game in multiplayer they wont all say they only play multiplayer. So when you add together the people who play both and the people who only play singleplayer they will add up to a higher number then multiplayer only players. Basically when each is counted alone, most play only multiplayer (they may play a small amount of single but not enough to count) making them the highest number, that doesnt make them above 50%. To give a random percent to show what I mean, Multiplayer - 40%, Singleplayer - 25%, Both - 35%. I'm going to stop there for now so I don't ramble on, when I do I tend to stop making any sense (hopefully that didn't already happen).

No, it's not. I would have enjoyed the story if it weren't for the shitty turn-based battle system.

You can argue that Pokemon is the same way, but Pokemon was more awesome.

I just hated FF's battle system.

Well the battle system itself really wasnt something special, but at least final fantasy 7 and 8 had a pretty good system for leveling and equipment. The materia system combined with the equipment slots and the possible materia combinations had alot of potential, the guardian force system of ff8 was even more complex and interesting to me.

I like that system. It's not that part I don't like. I hated the actual fighting system.

I don't like the new ones, I loved them on the Nintendo and Playstation though.

I don't see myself ever finishing a game like pokemon or something that requires you to collect/get everything (achievements, etc.) - I usually finish the "story mode", but after that I don't do much (takes too long)

I second that.
I complete the storylines for the adventure games and RPGs I play but hardly try and get a 100% completion.
There was this gem for the DS, The World Ends With You, I played it over from a new game about three times but never got a 100% completion.
Then there was FF7 and FF8.. And Pokemon (lol, I played the blue and yellow versions) and other shit.

Now would be a good time to reward a Completist player some real virtual money, and that's a good incentive.

actually, to add to the list - sometimes the multiplayer is better then the story, and that never ends

games that I finished:

KOTR
all sorts of pokemon games past the elite four
Jade empire (but once you win you re-play it in expert mode, didn't finish in expert mode)
halo series
a few different mario kart games
castlevania
Jump super/ultimate stars
one of the call of duty games, 3 I think
two worlds (well the main quest)
fire emblem (old game)
wc3/sc2 - campaign (with all the sc2 campaign
some dbz games (fighting)
Age of empires 1 and 2
lego star wars (not actually collecting all the bricks/etc. - game gets boring once you are invincible)

games I didn't finish:
Pokemon dungeon or something - wasn't as good as the regular Pokemon games
most racing games (I am not very good at them)
sport games (I don't like them too much)
age of empires 3/mythology - I didn't like them as much as sc2/wc3
