At least it wasn’t his dad’s Ferrari. Carlos Tomas, 59, says he dropped off his Mazda RX-8 at Avenue Rentals and Detailing for a little work, but found that someone had taken it out for a long ride and racked up a $45 toll charge.

Carlos Tomas says his Mazda RX-8 had an extra 275 miles added to the odometer after he left it in Avenue Rentals and Detailing, in Scarborough. It's straight out of Ferris Bueller.

A Canadian man was stunned to pick up his sports car from his local auto shop and find 275 miles added to the odometer. Carlos Tomas couldn't believe his eyes when he returned for his red Mazda RX-8 and saw a worker had allegedly been clocking up the extra distance.

Or turn it off entirely. Some cars support it while others require just a bit of tinkering to disable (perhaps just a circuit breaker removal).

As my father would call them: they are dolts.
