Filipino Spaghetti

This Filipino Spaghetti recipe is a unique Filipino variation of spaghetti with interesting flavors.

Ingredients:
  • 8 ounces spaghetti noodles
  • 1 Tablespoon oil
  • 4 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 onion, chopped
  • 1 pound ground beef
  • 1 cup banana ketchup
  • 1 cup tomato sauce
  • 1/2 cup water
  • 1/4 cup brown sugar
  • 1/4 cup grated cheese
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • Hot dogs, sliced (optional)
  • Cheddar cheese, grated (for topping)
  • Large Skillet
Directions:
  • Cook spaghetti noodles according to package instructions, then drain and set aside
  • In a large skillet, heat oil over medium heat
  • Add minced garlic and chopped onion, then saute until fragrant
  • Add ground beef to the skillet and cook until browned, breaking it up into small pieces
  • Stir in banana ketchup, tomato sauce, water, and brown sugar
  • Bring to a simmer and cook for 10-15 minutes, stirring occasionally, until the sauce thickens slightly
  • Add grated cheese to the sauce and stir until melted
  • Season with salt and pepper to taste
  • Optional - add sliced hot dogs to the sauce and cook for an additional 3-5 minutes
  • Serve over cooked noodles, topped with grated cheddar cheese
