Its fail in some ways though. Like you can't (Or you can, but I don't know how) make cliffs higher\lower then 4, use all of the tiles with ease ("Type" should be a drop down menu were you can select any tile set) you can't make cliff ramps go around corners (it as to be one side or the other) and you have to use the Remove Ramp tool which is slower because the undo button makes it bug sometimes.

Water should be placed down in smaller squares, too. Plus, I was having other cliff troubles. (Randomly it would change all of the cliff to the wrong thing)

Other wise its really good though! :D

Well, I haven't used cliffs at all, honest to be. I'm too used to lower/rise, from WE, and I think I'm going to use that in GE as well.

And seriously, not even those things won't make it less awesome for me. I mean, you get fading tiles, OMG! This is like the Grail for me, since I always disliked how I couldn't fade tiles from one to another :3.

You can even create custom lightning within your map, and my god is it so detailed on how many options you have...

Edit: Lighting effects are awesome.

One feature I'm not too sure of in usefulness is hiding terrain cells...

Edit: This is the same terrain as before, but a bit different in lighting...

Something that may help in building cliffs over 4, try creating a new map and setting the base height of the map at 6 instead of what its set at which is 8, and see if you can get higher cliffs.

No, the given height is only the Z-level of height-level 1. (zero being lowered, and 2 and 3 being the two you can put onto that.)

Even if you put the Z-level at 20, you can't go lower than usual.

Can a mod change the name of this thread into "The Terrain Thread", please. I want to turn this into the analogy of the WE terrain thread :D.

Also, users posting here should note that this is only for showcasing terrains. If you need help with any issue, make a new thread ;).

What I seriously dislike about the SC2 terrain editor is the lack of good environmental doodads. The trees look comic style again, although starcraft is supposed to have a "realistic" look.

Don't get me wrong; the textures of the doodads are usually very good, but the general style is totally ugly. The Stones and trees look extremely weird.

I think I will create some custom tree and stone, such as medieval housing sandbox* models in the next weeks using ingame textures.

*This means that instead of creating an entire tree, you create only a trees crown, or the stem of the trees and then attach them together to complete trees and stuff - that way you can save lots of space but still can have awesome variation in doodads

Hmm, how do I change my signature?
  • tom_mai78101 tom_mai78101:
Signatures can be edit in your account profile. As for the old stuffs, I'm thinking it's because Blizzard is now under Microsoft, and because of Microsoft Xbox going the way it is, it's dreadful.

You can get there if you click the bell icon (alerts) and choose preferences from the bottom, signature will be in the menu on the left there https://www.thehelper.net/account/preferences

Crazy how much 3d printing has come in the last few years. Sad that it's not as easily modifiable though
  • Varine Varine:
I bought an Ender 3 during the pandemic and tinkered with it all the time. Just bought a Sovol, not as easy. I'm trying to make it use a different nozzle because I have a fuck ton of Volcanos, and they use what is basically a modified volcano that is just a smidge longer, and almost every part on this thing needs to be redone to make it work
  • Varine Varine:
Luckily I have a 3d printer for that, I guess. But it's ridiculous. The regular volcanos are 21mm, these Sovol versions are about 23.5mm
  • Varine Varine:
So, 2.5mm longer. But the thing that measures the bed is about 1.5mm above the nozzle, so if I swap it with a volcano then I'm 1mm behind it. So cool, new bracket to swap that, but THEN the fan shroud to direct air at the part is ALSO going to be .5mm to low, and so I need to redo that, but by doing that it is a little bit off where it should be blowing and it's throwing it at the heating block instead of the part, and fuck man
  • Varine Varine:
I didn't realize they designed this entire thing to NOT be modded. I would have just got a fucking Bambu if I knew that, the whole point was I could fuck with this. And no one else makes shit for Sovol so I have to go through them, and they have... interesting pricing models. So I have a new extruder altogether that I'm taking apart and going to just design a whole new one to use my nozzles. Dumb design.
  • Varine Varine:
Can't just buy a new heatblock, you need to get a whole hotend - so block, heater cartridge, thermistor, heatbreak, and nozzle. And they put this fucking paste in there so I can't take the thermistor or cartridge out with any ease, that's 30 dollars. Or you can get the whole extrudor with the direct driver AND that heatblock for like 50, but you still can't get any of it to come apart
  • Varine Varine:
Partsbuilt has individual parts I found but they're expensive. I think I can get bits swapped around and make this work with generic shit though
