How to use .w3x files

Ok you r all hinking that evorybody knows it but im new to warcraft 3 only have it 3 days. But im now wondering if i download a map its a .w3x file and i dont have a clue how to use it :/

put it in your directory of warcraft

go to maps
now create a folder called download

now put inside the map

run warcraft

single player

then find the download folder

play the map.


if editor,
double click it/open.

Yes but thats now the problm i tryd both and if i try to play t i go to the map i putted it into and i cant slect it themap is yust empty. and if i try to openit whit editor it says unsuported file type :/

what is the version of your warcraft... is it even frozen throne?

lol dunno dident you ready my whole post i only have it 3 days...
itqs not frozen throne yet no but is that so importand i mean maps need to be playeble eaven whitout frozen throne

you see w3x file means (w)arcraft (3) e(x)pansion


that is why you will need frozen throne to play it.

so get frozen throne if you want to play it.
