Patrolling Units

Hi, I need help with a map I'm making (its sort of an RPG but not quite).
In the city, I want there to be patrolling guards. I know how to set the movement paths an everything, but Ive run into one problem.

When I make the guards move, I trigger it so that they slow down (or 'walk' their patrols.) And I want to make it so that when they acquire an enemy target, their movement speed is set back to full.

use a unit comes within range of unit and check the conditions you need like if it is an enemy unit and that kind of things and do your action you can find it under unitgroup.

thats actually pretty easy :)

Either make it so when a unit is ordered to attack a unit, reset its move speed.
Or do a periodic check to see if a unit is attacking. (if not, make it slow)
Or you could make it follow a slower unit, although this wouldnt look too good :p

Thanks, but I was thinking more when it acquires a target (the units are supposed to have relatively high acquisition range. They ARE sentries after all) so that when it chases you, it will speed up, and when you die or get to far, it returns to its patrols at a lower speed.

...Does 'attack' count as 'acquire a target' in the trigger editor? I swear ive seen the latter at least once before but I can't find it.

Also, the units belong to player 10 (light blue, computer controlled) if that is relevant at all.

If its ordered to attack, then yes. its when it moves towards the unit its trying to attack.
If its when a unit is attacked, then thats after the unit has been hit.

'Unit acquires a target' is unfortunately only available under the specific unit events. So you'd have to create a trigger for every patrolling unit. You could do that with another trigger though, select all the patrolling units and add an event for each.
