Hot Dogs Creole
Creole style hot dogs featuring a homemade Creole sauce!
Ingredients:
- 2 Tablespoons butter or margarine
- 1/4 cup chopped onion
- 1/4 cup chopped celery
- 1/3 cup Madeira wine
- 2 teaspoons Dijon mustard
- 1 Tablespoon Worcestershire sauce
- 1/2 cup chili sauce
- 1 Tablespoon brown sugar
- 1/2 teaspoon cayenne pepper
- Dash of Tabasco sauce
- 8 hot dogs or hot dog length sausages
- 8 buns
- Skillet
- In a skillet, saute the onion and celery in butter until lightly browned
- Add remaining sauce ingredients and simmer 5 minutes
- Prick the skins of the hot dogs and place them in the sauce
- Cover and simmer slowly about 15 minutes until thoroughly heated
- Lightly butter buns and warm in moderate oven
- Put hot dogs in buns and spoon on sauce
