A primary school has been accused of spoiling Christmas for pupils after a lesson telling them that Santa Claus does not exist.

Children as young as nine were told that only 'small children believe in Father Christmas'.

And yesterday their parents criticised teachers for taking the 'magic' out of the festive period.

The blunder came after the Year 5 pupils were given seasonal worksheets containing various festive classroom exercises.

Hahaha, this is almost as funny as that article about that teacher talking about God in the classroom. Considering he's "poisoning their minds" and the "heroic" 11th grader "believes in the future generation", I found that article particularly hilarious. I don't think the teacher should've said what he said, but did the 11th grader take appropriate action? Nah, only an odd person so against freedom of speech would videotape his teacher and exaggerate what's said.

What happened there is the exact same, just taken to hilarious proportions in this article. Should the teachers have told them Santa Claus doesn't exist? Probably not, since they can very easily figure it out themselves. However, I have no idea why the pupils would get so stocky about it. Ruining the spirit of Christmas. ROFL. Poor Mr. Claus came after the original definition of Christmas, so he isn't its real meaning. Thus, it doesn't matter if he exists or doesn't. No need to tell the pupils :p

None of my family has ever believed in Santa Claus. My little bro never did through his entire childhood thus far, and he's 7.

I can't believe a teacher was stupid enough to say that... No tot sound like an idiot, or like some Christmas fanatic, but really... Santa Claus is one of the major factors that the Christmas Spirit what it is.

Even though the holiday itself is of Christian belief (I have no idea, but religion is not the point), the holiday is joined by millions and millions of people, religious or not. I believe strongly that teachers have no right taking that away from a child, no matter the age.

Christmas time is a magical time, songs and snow, laughter and presents. It is truly what we call a "magical time of year".

I remember being only 8 years old, and I promised myself I would stay up and meet Santa Claus. I stayed up until about 1:00 then I fell asleep on the couch, and Santa delivered the presents as I slept.

I also remember when I was 7, and my friend's dad dressed up as Santa Claus, and came to visit me. I was so excited, and I had no idea that it was my friends dad. Why would I believe it wasn't Santa? Santa was as real as he could be, back then, and he is still today, I do so believe.

No I don't mean that I believe he's real, and that there is a guy who flies around the world and gives presents to kids. No, I believe he lives in the Christmas Spirit, and I for one strongly believe that no kid should be told otherwise, thus losing most of that spirit.

And theres my Christmas time rant. Happy Holidays all!

And remember... Seeing isn't Believing, Believing is Seeing!

Edit:

In only one case can you say you can tell kids that it does not exist:

"Who are you to defy kids of the Christmas Spirit?"
"I'm the Juggernaut BITCH!"

The original Christmas celebration was to witness the birth of the sun. Mr. Claus got added later.

> Then who brings the presents?
The Eastern Bunny of course. Everything about this so-called Santa Claus is just another government conspiracy.

Does this mean I'm the only Christian on TH? =P

As a Christian I think kids should be told that Santa doesn't exsist, because I just don't like the guy. But I did believe in Santa one time in my life and was totally freaked out when I found he wasn't real.

"My parents were lying to me for my whole life!" Sobbed young Ninva.

Uh, actually... Wasn't Jesus born during the summer time? And Christmas, to my knowledge, was originally Pagan in nature :D

According to what I hear they do not know the date, but guess it's around that time. (or was selected so the church can actually have a balanced church season)

Wow. That's just wrong. I completely agree with halo_king that Santa is part of what makes the Christmas season magical in nature. What right does the school have in taking away the children's happiness? By believing in Santa, it opens the doors for being happy in the future, when you sit on Santa's lap, or when you rush down to the tree to see what Santa brought.
The time when a kid stops believing in Santa acts as a kind of rite of passage, a loss of innocent thing. It's when that person can perpetuate the dream to their little siblings or cousins, and give others the same happiness they once experienced.

The world can be a depressing place, and who wants to experience it as a child. Christmas is when we embrace all the happy aspects of life and the world, when we should be improving the mood of ourselves and everyone around us, not the opposite.
