I am pretty new to world editor and i want to make a map where there is snow somewhere and normal grass another place. How do i do that? It seems like when picking tiles you can only go from one default where the tiles look a lot the same.

You can load different terrain textures, except for cliffs and water, IIRC.
See if you find an option "replace textures" or something like that.

But will that not replace all my tiles with new ones?

No, only the ones you are no longer using.
The texture buffer is very limited, sadly, and so there isn't a lot of variety you can put into a map with the normal editor.
Some editors IIRC allow loading additional textures, but I'm not sure how the game handles that.
