I don't know much about VPNs either

I was wondering if its possible for me , to connect to him, through the MSN messenger port (which is open at school ). He doesn't use MSN messenger, and neither do I. I want to be able to access his cable modem. Dark Age of Camelot is a MMORPG

Hmm so the question is could I connect to the DaoC servers via his computer ? I guess in a way he would be my proxy.

If you set this to your localhost address (127.0.0.1), your local client will connect fine, but other computers will not. Make sure you use a real IP (like 192.168.1.10, or whatever yours might be). Nevertheless, you have no other option to install the portal package of the game to other computers but you can still manage to use VPN for gaming isolation and more.
