Welcome to a new graphics competition, Winter Edition!
Since there were quite some people interested in having a graphics contest, I decided to host it and see how much have we progressed since a few years ago and also if we have some new talented people around.
To cut the long story short, here are the rules:
- Every contestant can submit a single work;
- The submission must be a digital graphic manipulation or a digital drawing. This means you can do your submission in Photoshop, Illustrator, GIMP, Corel Draw, Paint, or anything similar. You cannot, however, submit a work done in a 3D modelling program or hand drawings;
- Each submission must be done on a canvas of at least 300x300 pixels and at most 2000x2000 pixels. This means this is a large piece contest;
- To ensure lossless submissions, you must save your work as BMP or PNG;
- To ensure lossless submissions and anonymity (I'll explain later), you must send the submission to my e-mail at [email protected] as an attachment. Everyone posting their work publicly will be disqualified;
- You can send WIPs to my e-mail and I will post them for feedback. The last piece you send to me will be considered your final submission when the deadline comes;
Determining the winner:
To ensure a fair system, there will be a public poll of the pieces, without the creators' names, so there's no bias. We'll leave the poll open for long enough so lurkers that don't visit so often get a chance to vote.
If I do not participate, I will also grade the submissions. If anyone else is willing to judge and not participate, the judge position is open, although make sure you have time for grading.
Theme: You have to do a winter-related submission. This means ice, snow, the works. Santa and his elves go as well, although Christmas has passed.
You have to submit your work by 26 January. This gives plenty of time for holidays and creating the submissions. If there are not enough contestants I will extend the deadline.
If there is anything you'd like to ask, this is the thread for it.
Good luck and I hope I get some great submissions!
EDIT: Extended the deadline by 2 weeks.
