I need elevator help!

I want to make a map that involves elevators. Elevators that run on triggers, no switches/regions. Its like one of those minigames in Mario Party, the all elevators drop but one, killing people on the dropped elevator. The only thing I need to know is how do i make the elevator drop. When I set the height it doesnt work, do I need elevator walls? Where do I put them? Please help!
