Patch installation problems

When I try to install the patch (1.45 to 1.5), it says it cant find the battlefield 1942 installation. I copied the game from another hard drive because the disk is too scratched to reinstall it, and then I deleted it off that hard drive cause it was works just fine, until I tried to install the patches to play online. It still plays without the patches, but I would like to get them installed so I can play online and with the mods. Any help would be appreciated.

Ok the disk might not be too scratched, but it wont install the game, it only plays it off the hard drive as long as it registers the cd in the drive.
Should I try a manual installation, could that fix it?

Update: The second CD is too scratched, it wont copy the file data3, so is there any way to install the patches?
Could someone plz help me!

Would someone be able to give me the actual patch files to copy into the game? There has to be something I can do to fix it...
