One question:

Is it alright to make a map that ONLY looks nice from a camera view, but when you look at it ingame..... :thdown:

Example1:
A unit in front of a dooda to make it look as if the unit is part of the dooda. Looks good on picture from an angle, but totally doesn't make sense when using in a map.

Example2:
A flying unit in mid-flight on top of a building (as a decoration). Only one frame of the animation fits the building. so it is captured only as that frame.

I believe so, as your screenshot is bieng graded.

You don't even have to submit the map, no one gives a pewpew about how it looks like from the game perspective.

Can't you make so other's can see who voted? If someone voted for their own, decrease 1 vote for that. Cause that will be unfair IF someone came first place with 8 votes and another one second place with 7 votes just because the winner voted for himself.

I was going to make the poll public (so everyone can see who voted for who) and also I was going to not allow anybody to vote for himself. I do not see this as something moral and it shows a lack of commons sense. And if anybody decides to not respect that rule, I will be able to see that.

Then don't vote. That is the correct way to go. I always did so when in competitions and thought mine was the best one.

I don't allow the pics to be posted here because there is a public poll and many people just vote for someone because that person is their friend. Of course, this doesn't works anymore when the contestant ask for votes deliberatedly, saying which terrain is his.

And I did participated in a terrain contest before. Am I forced to put rules in the same manner? And anyway, isn't it a bit more challenging to use only what WE offers? Are you skilled enough to make something astounding with those doodads?

Anyway, the rules remain the same. If you do not like them that way, host a contest yourself after this one ends =/. Not a big deal.

I want to post my picture at least. I don't give a fuck if someone steals my concept or whatever, pardon my arrogance, but I am almost 100% sure that they won't be able to make it as well as I can. There are only a few people I know who could and they wouldn't steal a concept anyways.

Of course it's sad that you can't post WIPs to get feedback. But I think the main reason is to avoid a "popularity contest". The last terraining contest at the Hive would be a sad example. I doubt that it was actually the case over there, but Jesus, all that whining. oO

Honestly, what is the difference between people knowing that that is yours now and knowing that that is yuors when the contest ends? If you want your talents recognized, they will be anyway after the public poll is closed. If you wish, after the poll is closed post it in the terrain thread, post it on every existant wc3 forum, I don't care. But just don't do it before that poll is closed.
