Why such strict rules? I do believe it would be better if we could use the ultimate terraining map (a resource that is free for all to download), and post our bloody pictures on the forums. Honestly, something tells me you have never hosted or participated in a terrain contest before.

Dude. It's just the way it is. Besides, this is to test how well we can do when we're limited to less resources. Now stop complaining. Rules are rules.

too many comps dont allow imports, it's so frustrating. War 3 has been out so long now that anything u can do with the terrain editor has been done, imports add a 4th dimension for creativity imo. I guess im going to have to wait til someone holds a comp where i can import my own custom doodads... Hopefully i still have my war 3 in 2017

That being said tho it ill be interesting to see if any of the competitors do raise the bar and produce something truly unique. Good luck

I don't allow the pics to be posted here because there is a public poll and many people just vote for someone because that person is their friend. Of course, this doesn't works anymore when the contestant ask for votes deliberatedly, saying which terrain is his.

And I did participated in a terrain contest before. Am I forced to put rules in the same manner? And anyway, isn't it a bit more challenging to use only what WE offers? Are you skilled enough to make something astounding with those doodads?

Anyway, the rules remain the same. If you do not like them that way, host a contest yourself after this one ends =/. Not a big deal.

yeah i agree with smith this should be a competition with only what we have to offer with world editor and even though i cant participate in any contest until i have fully assocciated myself with WE the rules are great this is a creativity contest... not a download all the good stuff contest

I have nothing against the rules. But there are terrain competetions where ultimate terraining map is allowed, only models in there, you are not able to download further more. So it is fair, since all have acess to the same amount of models, nothing wrong with that either.

adding more options through imports hardly reduces creativity... but i can see how it could affect voting considering most people look for eye candy. So a level playing field does make for a good competition, it's just not something that inspires me. I was just voicing my opinion so maybe the next terraining comp will be more open to imports. Something more like a terraining contest without rules, but includes playability and b.net compatibilty in the judging. I'd love to whip open gmax and make a bunch of models for a comp sometime

Sure, that's what Smith is there for.
Then again, it's also mentioned here already that a single structure is "city enough".
Failing that, it's a village.
No one said villages need 300 people at least...

They will since the public will be able to vote for which they want to win. They don't want us to post any cause it shall be anonymous of which one is made by who.

That's the point of not allowing contestants to post them... they will be posted, by me, without saying who made which. When everything has ended (winners are chosen and so on), I will reveal the authors.

And btw, thewrongvine, use your imagination . I won't say what I have in mind, I'm a judge and I can't help the contestants.
