Yo, anyways heres the problem

My friend just had a power outage while he was working on his computer, and boom. it shut off. So, heres the problem.

He tries to load it up and it brings up the computer boot screen thing perfectly normal (with hardware and all that stuff), then when it brings up "Windows is loading", before it even has the bar below the icon move, bam, thats when it screws up. I notice that a blue screen flickers on its changing to a screen that says the following (summed up because it's sorta long)

Windows Start up Screen said:
We are sorry for the inconvenience, but Windows(R) could not start up correctly.

To get windows to activate and work properly again, we suggest using a past bootup that has worked correctly.

(it now brings up a list of things)

Safe mode
Safe mode (something)
Safe mode (something else)

Past boot-ups that have worked successfully

Windows XP Home Edition
-----------------

Anyways, we chose the Windows XP Home Edition.

Now it boots up to the windows loading screen again, and then it restarts (or crashes) the computer and now we're back at the beginning of this thread.

Any ideas on how to fix this would be appreciated.

Thanks,
