Now if they were a fraction such that 99/50 + 99/50 (because 99/100 ~ 1), you'd get 1.98 + 1.98 = 3.96 ~ 4

And of course, if strings, 22.

Well in my music theory class we learned 2 +2 is 5 because you count from Zero instead of from One. Try it....start with your thumb as zero and count to four....are you on your pinky by four?
