A movie producing program?

Hey guys, I hope I'm at the correct forum..

I'm looking for a good movie producing program similar to Windows Movie Maker.
I can't use WMM because it's weird..whenever I import a video, it crashes..
So are there any other movie producing programs that are free?

It crashes, because you have invalid file type.

Movie Maker is the best free movie editing program I have used.. But then there is Pinnacle Studio which let's you do some advanced stuff, but that costs millions... (http://www.pinnaclesys.com/PublicSite/us/Home/)

This topic has already been covered a few times in other threads.

Commercial (as in: expensive, professional) tools:
- Final Cut Pro
- Adobe Premiere
- others mentionned above

Free, open-source tools:
- VirtualDub
- Cinelerra (Linux)

BUT the "perfect" product depends on your needs: are you planning to merely cut some scenes or apply image-enhancing filters, or are you going to create a movie out of a few other ones?

Movie composition with fancy transition effects requires a non-linear editor, which only commercial products (exception: Cinelerra) provide.
