BW108b patch fails checksum on staredit.exe

Hello,

Patch refuses to install saying staredit.exe failed to pass checksum. This is a fresh install of both SC, then BW then patch 108b.

Control panel uninstall, registry cleaned, and starcraft directory removed before installation.

Operating System: Windows XP Professional
Hardware:
Athalon 1.2Ghz, SB Live Digital 5.1, GeForce 2 MX
512MB Ram, 20 GB free disks space

Any help appreciated

Is this patch coming from battle.net when you try to connect, or was it downloaded from their website?

Try connecting to battle.net and having it automatically install the patch for you.

My own fault - problem resolved. Sub standard software - try before you buy. I like to try things before I spend the money. So many games are hype these days. If they are good then I buy em. If they are not then thats what CD-RW are good for. Went and bought the game for myself - good stuff!

Works like a treat now.

Are you saying you were trying to play a burned copy of Starcraft ? (Which is very possible since Starcraft has very little protection which today's burners can bypass)

NoName, with a little tweaking any CD can be copied, and the copy will work.
rtfm, you should have mentioned you had a burned game, because we could have told you that was the reason.
