Check if Building Upgraded

What events and conditions would i use to determine whether or not a player upgraded their town hall. In my case i have a tavern, and it upgrades to 5 different races, and you pick one. But it cant be a periodic check, because i want to add a weather effect to the building if it is Nightelf tree of light. I also need to be able to destroy that effect when the unit dies.

Thanks, it worked, i didn't think it would because i wasn't sure if the triggering unit referred to the unit before or after the upgrade. But now, i need to remove the weather effect, when the unit dies, i guess i could add a variable.

yes store the effect in a variable and remove it after your units death

Now, would it be better to add grass into the terrain or use a ubersplat, (plus im using Outland tileset) for an effect around the building.
