trying to change the ip adress that bin assigned to my cable modem .

i thought the procedure was in the command prompt

ipconfig
cmd
cmd /renew
cmd /release

but as u prolly know that does not work .
what are the correct commands ?

Most ISPs will assign you the same IP over and over again

its CMD to get to a command prompt

then IPCONFIG /RENEW and IPCONFIG /RELEASE

Quickest way to get reassigned a new address is to leave the modem off for about 8 days. Most providers have a 7 day lease time on the DHCP addresses and unless you are offline longer than that, you will keep getting the same address. ANother way is to change your MAC address since the IP you get is keyed to the MAC address of whatever is connecting to the provider (new network card needed)
