Note: This is simply a guide on making a post for tutorials, not actually a requirement.

If the time comes that you have come up with a great thing to do and that no one else has come up with it and you want the whole world to know about it via tutorial, then this is a great place to post.

But wait! You have to know the rules first before even starting to post anything in this forum. Click the link if you have not read the rules yet: http://www.thehelper.net/forums/showthread.php?t=66644

Have you read the rules already? Have you understood and agreed every point that has been stated in it? Then you are ready to start a post!

THE TITLE

Now, first thing's first. The best way to attract attention is to come up with a great title. Don't make it fancy but make it as simple as it is. Make sure the title really does describe what your tutorial is about.

A great example would be what your tutorial is MAINLY about. You should also know that you could only have one tutorial in every topic, so if you have 2 or more, I suggest you post them in different topics.

Now, if your tutorial is about "Channel", then your title would be, well, "Channel" =). Now, if your post is about "Using Channel for spells" then you don't name it as "Channel", but "Using Channel for spells". If you are talking about both topics, and since they are both under "Channel", then your title would be "Channel". If in a time that you have come up with a tutorial for both "Tooltips" and "Channel", you don't put them in the same topic. You can't even come up with something that would make both topics related.

INTRODUCTION

Now that you have your title, now it's how you put your tutorial to start. Basically, people just blab about what they are trying to do, which I think is going to create problems. To prevent that, you start out by simply writing a summary of the essentials within your tutorial.

A basic example is "Removing Memory Leaks". Now, if a person does come up with that kind of tutorial while not even talking about what Memory Leaks are then that tutorial would clearly be useless to beginners, since the reader may not know what memory leaks do and why they should be removed. You basically want to prove a summary or a brief information of the essential, not entirely talking about it, unless your tutorial's job is to.

Next would be how the tutorial would be helpful to anyone who reads it. You can't just blab directly to people of what your tutorial does without even saying why they should even be doing it, or how helpful they are to figure out how to do this or that. Tutorials about spells don't intend to have this since the only people that would be helped by it would be people that are interested to make spells in that way, like "Making Nova Spells" or "Making a chain spell in GUI".

Last would be what the reader probably needs to accomplish his tasks if there are. This is proven as an essential when making tutorials of spells, systems, and anything of that matter. If your tutorial is a guide on "Tooltips" then this is probably unneeded since your tutorial's job is to talk about it, not entirely how to come up with a great tooltip, unless you want to as well.

BODY OF THE TUTORIAL

Here's where you start writing what your tutorial is suppose to do.

If you want to talk about "Making a dungeon like terrain" then write all the things and ways of how to do so. Remember that in spells, simply writing down a trigger wouldn't be that helpful.
For the reader to understand, you must also talk about what the trigger (usually, the complicated ones, well at least to beginners) or a set of triggers do so that they could prevent asking questions why they couldn't do it, since because they don't even know what that trigger does anyway.

Don't get frustrated if you can't come up with a more detailed description than what you have written. It is possible for one to completely talk about what he is trying to do but some just can't. Don't worry! Readers that don't understand try to post in the tutorial and, if their post is something that can relate to your tutorial, that's the time you can help *again*. When that time comes, you could even edit your tutorial so that you could improve it and not only on that instance but any period in the future!

Remember that you should make it as detailed as possible when you press 'Submit New Thread'. Don't be very dependable on your time and the edit button and prevent being lazy or your topic has a high probability of going to the graveyard.

If your tutorial, especially those of spells, have different classifications (e.g. Unit Nova Spell, Line Nova Spells, etc.) then I say you should properly format them so that people could clearly see and easily understand your tutorial, and that means less questions (which, most likely you will be answering)!
Use Boldface, Italic, Underline, different colors, different text formatting, and even spacing to differentiate some texts from others!

You should know that images can really help the reader. It's not a necessity but is really recommended to those who try to submit a tutorial so that it could be as helpful as possible. Don't post pointless images that really wouldn't help your tutorial nor post images that are very unclear that less of a majority could understand it.

FINAL NOTE

Your now to the end your tutorial! After you blab about everything about your tutorial, now its time to say your special thanks, credits, and other things of that matter.
You could also write a little FAQs box (Frequently Asked Questions) that maybe could help readers. If you try to update your tutorial then you could also place in a changelog, although its not necessary.

There you go, you have a full tutorial basically covering anything that a reader might want to know and you job now is, well, help anyone that needs it if it relates to your tutorial and maybe, just maybe, it could have its way to the "Tutorial Repository" subsection than the "Graveyard".

I hope this has been prove to be of use to you, and I say farewell ^_^...
