I was running a poor 10g Internal Hard drive, so i switch it with a Compaq HP 40 GB Ultra ATA100 Internal Hard Drive, and now my computer turns on and sits there with a flashing Rectangle at the left hand corner:banghead:
How old is that computer and what's its model or mainboard? Given its using a 10GB harddrive, its BIOS may not be able to handle disks larger than 32GB.
Checklist:
- BIOS compatibility with the larger HDD
- do you hear any beep codes or does your computer have other diagnose methods?
- are the IDE cable and master/slave jumper set correctly?
- do you have an OS on the disk you're booting from?
Plus, if you buy a new harddrive, get atleast 320Gbytes.
