There I was.
Yet again.
Hanging out in some Tavern in the middle of nowhere.
Pondering... what actually?
Secret past, lost love? Sure, but who cares. Not me.
Suddenly, the skies filled up with weird creatures...
So much for the introduction.
Invaders of the Lost Cause,
a single-player vertical scroller,
preliminary testing "release",
by AceHart.
So, vertical-scroller... means the terrain view is moving automatically.
Your Hero stays, or so he tries, inside the view as it moves.
Your mission, if you accept it, is to shoot down anything that flies.
Terrain:
The terrain is pretty much approaching my limits on what I can get out of Sunken Ruins.
I consider it done, give or take the odd shrub.
Heroes:
Pretty basic currently.
Four Heroes to chose from.
The only difference is looks.
They also only have 4 abilities (4 levels),
and one innate ability (no mana, that's intentional).
Items:
Some would say the current items aren't worth the shop that sells them.
They are probably right.
I just wanted to get some sort of random system going.
But, you can, at least, see where the shops are.
The mission:
Fly around, shoot things. That's it.
Now, the abilities are, currently, totally uber.
Once you pass level, let's say 8, ... well.
You can't really die.
If you, somehow, manage to die after all,
you're given two simple choices: restart and quit.
Not to mention..., but, well, try to die.
At the end of each lane (there's four of them),
you're supposed to meet some Boss.
There aren't any bosses yet.
Just fly onto the central structure to "pass" on to the next lane.
Of course, you're going to meet different units up there.
And, while they are pretty static currently,
a somewhat more active version is, sort of, ready.
But not implemented yet.
All of this and more is working or coming along quite nicely.
What I would like to read are a couple suggestions or ideas for
- Heroes
- Abilities
- Items
- More activity
- Bosses
Done:
- Terrain
- Overall map idea...
