>>I already had discussions on spaghetti code and I will not repeat it here.

If anyone wants more details you can PM me or open a new thread.

Maybe I am too dumb to understand what is explaining in the wiki. I need a Pm.

>>If I attach a struct then I attach all its variables and methods and whatever else I don't know structs have,right?So no more attaching a caster unit,a target unit,an integer for who knows what..*time passes*...a real for ang.... Yeah.
It just pack all those variable and attach them together to somewhere.

>>It's unique every time it's created?No ruining Multi everything instanceability?
Yes, since you uses local StructType StructName = StructName.create/allocate ().

And when creating a struct in a trigger,It's unique every time it's created?No ruining Multi everything instanceability?

Yes. You are correct.

This is a great tutorial. It has clearer examples (and more of them) compared to the other 2 struct tutorials on this site. (Not to bash those other 2 tutorials, but this one is just clearer). I am fairly new to JASS and just learning vJASS, so currently I am at the exact right level of knowledge to benefit from this. (Well, maybe not exactly; I would have loved to have seen this tutorial a couple of weeks ago.)

(I did not know arrays were possible for struct components. I wish I had known that earlier.)

I have a question: Is is possible to make use of structs without using any of those attachments systems? Everytime I try to use structs w/o an attachment system, I've failed. Are structs not meant to be used alone? So far the only thing that I know how to use is ABC (which, I suppose, is a testament to how easy and noob-friendly it is).

>>Is is possible to make use of structs without using any of those attachments systems?
False, if you are pro enough, you may have your own integer array system.

In the false way of thinking, struct can be classify into integer.
So this may work:
JASS:
globals
    integer int
endglobals

struct s
endstruct

function SomeFunc takes nothing returns nothing
local s sss = s.create()
set int = sss
endfunction

>>nulling variables when the job is done.
There is no way to null those variable, they are globals arrays.

>>like normal methods would do
I'm feeling quite odd when reading this line. static method work like normal method? Probably I may wrong, but I don't think it is the same. When we are calling static method, we can't get back the child variables.

Simple example:
JASS:

struct st
integer inte
    static method smm takes nothing returns nothing
        call BJDebugMsg("smm runs")
    endstatic method

    method ssm takes nothing returns nothing
        call BJDebugMsg("ssm runs")
    endstatic method
endstruct

function SomeFunc takes nothing returns nothing
local st struc = st.create()

    call struc.smm() // X  (Causes syntax)
    call struc.ssm()  //√  (Correct syntax)

    call st.smm() //√
    call st.ssm()  //X
endfunction

>>You cannot do “local structname data = data.create()”. It would not syntax.
Does your syntax means syntax error? It is, in my dictionary. :p

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Later and later on, this should be the main struct tutorial around here, make it the top tutorial, part it up to Novice, Rookie and Advance. :p

Simply remade this thread to the full tutorial about using structs, not basics of structs. :p

I'm joking.

Step 6 is called a nice farewell and conclusion??? and then you go for steps 7 and 8 ....
I suggest you put a big red line there saying:
Next part of tutorial is about more advanced stuff, come back later when you try out the first part....

Then this:
The syntax for destroying a struct is following:

JASS:
function callbackfunc takes nothing returns nothing
    local structname data = GetTimerStructA(callback)
    call structname.destroy(data)
endfunction

First of all that ABC function has no purpose in your example,
remove it to avoid confusion.
Second there is a more easier way of destroying a struct than this:
JASS:
call structname.destroy(data)

easier:
JASS:
call data.destroy()

The syntax for destroying a struct is following:

JASS:
function callbackfunc takes nothing returns nothing
    call data.destroy()
    // Optionally, "call structname.destroy(data)"
endfunction

As you can see, the destroy method takes a parameter, the struct reference name.

?

-------------------------------------------------
I suggest you totally remove that call structname.destroy(data) thing
and why don't you simply do it like this:
-------------------------------------------------

The syntax for destroying a struct is following:

JASS:
call data.destroy()

As you can see all you need to do is call destroy method, simple as that.

So, when the struct is destroyed [ <name>.destroy() ] , onDestroy method automatically activates, right?

EDIT: Step 6:
Code:
retrieve and [i]destrot[/i] structs.

This tutorial has been sitting here long enough.

I had a good read, everything was good, up-to-scratch, IMO, apart from the
methods section - that could use more detailed examples I reckon.

Try and add some more to that part when you have the time.
For now, this tutorial is approved.

This is very good. I have already seemed to learnt vJASS with one pass through the tutorial. I hope that I can write it now...lol..I was too lazy to learn it before.

Anyways.

Good job +rep
