Did you forget that his ult is AoE, its like. BAM. Where did my health go? I have gotten into team fights where xin uses charge then his ult, and we just get demolished

I suppose attack speed does help, but it still won't make his burst (damage) any stronger.

It doesn't really nullify them, say you've got 2k HP and ~80 resists (~50%) then 25% of 2k is 500, and 50% of that is only 250; 50% of his base 500 damage is also 250, so he'd do about 500 damage with his ult to that target.

That isn't too bad for an ult, pantheons ult deals 1000 damage at level 3, slows, and has a good AP ratio, although he deals down to 33% if you're on the very edge.

I didn't. But, look at Ryze, he has AoE and can do a massive amount of damage, you just need to know how to play against him. Keeping spread out vs a Xin and baiting with a tank probably isn't a bad idea, then stun/trap and/or nuke him.

If you can't win a team fight with him in the battle, look for a way to kill him off first.

It goes for all of course, but I was using Xin as an example. I've had to do such a thing with other heroes, particularly if they get fed.

Nope, this is the info for Xin's ult on LoL.com:

Crescent Sweep - Xin Zhao fiercely sweeps his spear around him, dealing damage to nearby enemies based on their current health.
Xin Zhao unleashes a fierce spear sweep on targets around him, dealing 150/275/400 + 25/25/25% of their current health in physical damage. His magic resistance and armor are increased by 30/40/50 for the next 8 seconds.

400 damage + 25% in physical damage. if you've got 50% resists (or, for armor at least), thats going to end up as 200 damage + 12.5%; a tank with 3000 hp will be dealt 200 + 375 damage.

I.E, thorn mail is probably pretty good against a Xin, since his ult and standard attacks are physical, as well as his Q, only his W/E aren't, and E doesn't do much damage.

EDIT: I'm betting E has dropped down to 30% slow, R is now 300 + 20%. Maybe some messing around with the mana for each ability as well.
