Position One Unit in Front of the Other

I want to position unit2 in front of the unit1 every time that unit 1 moves. Essentially keeping unit2 in front of unit1. This has to be via triggers.

What is the quickest way to do this so that it doesn't look too choppy.

Don't know if this will work, but why not try and help eh ;) ?

Use:
Code:
Events
Unit - A unit is Issued an order targeting a point
Unit - A unit is Issued an order targeting a unit
Then use offsets with:
Code:
Target of issued order
To make them both move evenly?
That was all freehand, sorry if it's wrong.

Time every 0.03 seconds

set TempPoint = Position of unit 1
set TempPoint2 = TempPoint offset by "whatever" towards facing of unit 1
Unit - Move unit 2 instantly to TempPoint2
Custom script: call RemoveLocation(TempPoint)
Custom script: call RemoveLocation(TempPoint2)

Note: this doesnt lag at all and is completely leakless!
every slide system uses a high frequency timer and it doesnt look choppy so there shouldnt be any problem with this.

Couldn't that lag a little and/or look choppy?
Using the events I have mixed with your actions would be perfect;
Because if they're not moving, the trigger doesn't run;
Whereas with every 0.03 it's always running even if they are standing still.

As I said, a mix of my events and your actions would be good ;) !

Here this works. Looks better then expected too =)

Trigger:
  • Melee Initialization
    • Events
      • Time - Every 0.03 seconds of game time
    • Conditions
    • Actions
      • Set temp_point = (Position of unit1)
      • If (All Conditions are True) then do (Then Actions) else do (Else Actions)
        • If - Conditions
          • (Number of units in (Units within 100.00 of temp_point matching ((Unit-type of (Matching unit)) Equal to (Unit-type of unit1)))) Equal to 1
        • Then - Actions
          • Set temp_point2 = (temp_point offset by 150.00 towards (Facing of unit1) degrees)
          • Unit - Move unit2 instantly to temp_point2, facing (Facing of unit1) degrees
          • Custom script: call RemoveLocation(udg_temp_point2)
        • Else - Actions
      • Custom script: call RemoveLocation(udg_temp_point)

Yes, do. Periodic time events for this kind of trigger are ridiculously inefficient.

Make two triggers.
One that starts when the unit clicks,
Then run the second one with the periodic event.
When the units stop,
Turn off the second trigger.

Well the trigger needs to be mui and it will probably be running at all times anyways.

I have it all in working order, Thanks +rep
