Quick question about arrays

Say I want to store 10 abilities in two different arrays. If I load them at map initialization, are they then stored so I can use them in any event taken I don't change the value of the variables?

Once you assign a variable a value, let it be the initial value, at the map initialization or any other trigger, it keeps the value until you change the variable to store a different value.
