Recovering data from a corrupt WD external hard drive

I used one of these in my PS3 after the original one ran out of space. Recently though it got corrupted somehow. When put in my computer it won't show up in my computer. It did say that it failed to install. I checked in disk management, and it's not showing up in there either. Is there some way I could still recover the data?

There are companies that will do it for you but it's really expensive.
