Separate Skill Menu..

What I want to do is create a separate skill menu for units/heroes. Similar to the 'Create Building' button, there will be a 'Cast Spell' button which will open up a sub-menu of spells available to cast, upon clicking on it, it will execute exactly as if it were a regular ability button on a heroes regular menu were pressed. I've been trying using triggers and I've looked into ability editing, but nothing quite seems to cover what I am looking for... any ideas?

I really doubt the possibility of this. Triggers won't alter your hud... maybe if you do some inhuman ability editing (you'd have to really consult an expert programmer for this too)...

I've made pseudo-spells that were binded to numbers in player messages before.

I don't see this as being possible. You can only either build buildings/units or learn skills in the sub-menu, but not actually cast spells.

As a side note, remember the limit on hero abilities is 5.
