A custom map by AceHart.

From the deepest and darkest corners of the "Maps the World doesn't need"-vault, here it comes...


The rules, as usual, are incredibly simple:
- First player to get 5000 Gold (or more) wins
- Kill anything that moves, unless it's one of your own units, or that of an ally


Heroes:
2
Limited to level 16 max (although the abilities would add up to 23)


Getting Gold:

Kills:
- Hero kill: 10 Gold
- Unit kill: 5 Gold

Staying on higher ground (hence the name of the map):
- White: 2 Gold (you'll know it when you see it)
- Blue: 5 Gold
- Red: 10 Gold
- Green: 15 Gold


There's shops, selling items.
I suggest you use them.

Remember, your score is how much Gold you currently have,
not the overall total ever made...


Runes!
What map doesn't have any Runes?


Current setup is 6 vs 6 players.
The host will be asked though if he wants to change it to Free For All.


If you feel like it, you may add a computer player to your team.

Tileset: Sunken Ruins (what else)... what you expect from a terrain that's mostly stairs?


All and any comments welcome (except the "Stop mapping" type)

What kind of map can you map in one day?
Wow, you surely know how to spark the folk.

Whatever ^^. The different colour idea is really cool and it's pretty fun to play.

But imo it's nearly impossible to beat the team which gatheres at the top. I mean... the game is over when all six players are in the middle and everybody has its own (imba?) healer.
Maybe you should add an AOE spell or something like that. Or spawn a powerful item (which can cast a AOE spell once) at the edge of the map from time to time.

The actual top spot is not the one that makes the most Gold though...

Healers... well, buy one. Buy more. Relax at a corner, buy several, move in...
Kill the healers. Annoying, and costs Gold too.

Did you actually try this in multi?
If not, and you put a couple comps, what you think of the comps?

Terrain?

I played it once alone and one time with (against) Conan. But his Warcraft crashed after 15 minutes or so. :(

The AI is really good (better than me, lol xD).
It would be better if they attack together, but that's probably a lot of work.


Terrain: Hmmm... nice stairs. ^^
Maybe improve their handrail, with some braziers or obelisks etc...
The outer islands could use some flowers and viny plants and the shallow water some rocks.
Those platforms look evil, but I guess that's the purpose. :p You could try using flat Wall End Short as platforms, they would look more... varied.

Given the overwhelming success of the previous version,
here's the all new and improved release candidate 1.


Changelog RC1:
- Score is the overall total Gold ever made, not the current amount you have.
- Shop! With items! That make a difference! Owning at the top? Good luck.
- Not one single bug-fix... no one noticed any.
- Greatly improved terrain (a bush here and there, some unnoticable decoration..., the usual).

I guess you changed that gold thingy to increase the action in the map. But thereby it loses some tactical depth. :(
I think both versions are good, so maybe implent both types in the map and let the players vote.

The fading item idea is great and the AI too. The doodads are happy.

I've only played the new version in SP but I'll grab some of the countless fans and try the MP with them soon. :p

Sort of, yes.
It does speed up the game though... since you'll arrive somewhat sooner at 5k.

Being able to buy additional food somewhat assumes you also have additional Gold to use...

Hm...

- Current Gold
- Overall Total Gold

Think player's will get it?
First try?

Hm... maybe just the host?

Or some "better" idea? Or different?

Or some ex cathedra decision by yours truly.

Trust me, you do not want to meet a perfectly coordinated 6 comps team...
Or, at least, I don't want to.

Played it, won it :D Critical point was near 3800 where I passed that fellow ( played mano o mano 1 vs 1 with CPU) At beginning I read info and checked spells, then he got lead. I almost lost but managed to kill his units with unit insta kill device. After that he didn' t was so dangerous beacause I rooted + nuked him ( Muha ha ha- ideal combo is: miss %+ root+ hydras= GG) I had no time to check happy doodads. I came up with some ideas, maybe if you ran through some colors you get combo so people will start to kill each other not camp so much. Still good is ranged attackers+ healers what he had but cmoon I had hydras :) Found one bug too check Hero attributes info there is one hellowa wierd number in agility :p What inside joke is about after winning (Cool?; Ownage?)?

Oh yes, there is.
Agility doesn't give any defense bonus... and, well, this value really looks like either some divison by zero or "infinity".

But, since it works, and I don't want Heroes with high (or any) armor values...

It's just a dialog. Slightly more interesting (and random) than "you win, OK".

Yeah I played this with 8 humans and 4 comps, evenly teamed. Nice one-day map. I won of course but a few things I noticed:

-Why does it say the: "What do you think you are doing there?" I had this warning non-stop for like 5 minutes, it only stops when I start moving.

-After a while two computers just kind of "quit" and moved to the outside and stopped moving. It was aroudn the same time when a few people quit, does that have something to do with it?

PS I got terrific and nice as my win message. :)

Hmmm... I tried to attack the bird, too :D . Neutral passive is considered ally? Just wondering...

Anyway, nice map. I played the beta ver, too. The improvements are really good. My favourite improvement is that the additional units die after a time. In the beta ver, I had no way to change my units. :)

Btw, the comp is kinda weak, I played 1vs1 and I never died lol
And, what were those bersekers and Witch Doctors that were appearing around me and attacking me? :eek:

"Ally" is anything that is not "enemy".
Which includes Neutrals.

Hm, yes... this is, supposedly, a team map.

Think of it as free experience. Target practice. Or another reason to have a team :p

Might be your long feet. Or you weren't blue. Or he was simply bored. Bad hair day...

Or, there's some trigger telling him to do it. Poor thing...

I will play this now, so I can come up with some real comments :rolleyes:

But for now I have an idea.

You know how 2-P said: "it loses some tactical depth." because you win because of the Overall Gold. Well, why do't you make modes? At the start, take a vote between all the players. Whatever mode gets the most votes win. If there is a tie with the votes, make player 1, red, rule over. If there is no Player 1, then player 2, etc.

Modes are always fun :D
