[ Suggestion ] Icon representation of "New Private Message"

It would be nice if there were a small icon to indicate a new private message, perhaps a small box would appear next to user preferences, similar to this :

Of course, this is a suggestion of convenience and isn't really needed...

but it'd be nice to have.

They kinda have this..

1. It would be good to have a private messages link BELOW the user preference link, and

2. It would be nice to click that yellow icon... or your name... or something...

3. Long after I visit, it still says I have a PM, when I already read it...

Yes, there is that, but that does not appear when you're in a forum. You must actually move to the main forum index and that's not really practical as clicking user preferences eliminates such steps.

As I said though, this is just a suggestion of convenience.

I agree with number one, any indication of a PM would be nice.

There is a setting in your preferences that will display a message box when you have a new message. May not work if you have scripting disabled in your browser or use some kind of popup blocker or other browser. Works with IE though.

Unfortunately, the image is not compatible to my Macintosh.

The error appears on microsoft/linux systems as well, it's because I took it off my host a few days ago after Rapmaster gave his ruling on the suggestion. It wasn't too special though, just a small box next to the user preferences link.
