Afternoon, everybody!

I just wanted to let you all know that I've finished the "Among the Stars" outer space map, available here: http://world-editor-tutorials.thehelper.net/maps.php?view=893

And it's currently "pending" on The Hive, here: http://www.hiveworkshop.com/forums/resource.php?t=83951

While you're at it, you might want to check out my earlier map, "Murfolk", also available on both The Helper and The Hive:

I'm hoping to turn this one into a short single-player campaign when I return to Warcraft, so feel free to leave a comment!

I'll look at the star one right now, but I want you to convince me to look at the other one so that you can build confidence.

Um...I'll give it a shot...

The point of the original "Murfolk" map was to see how Murlocs (and their cousins the Mur'gul) could function, if they were a playable race. I decided to throw in the Makrura too, because I think they're underrated, and a couple of tribes of Naga for them to fight against. I think they're balanced races, with the Murlocs following the "zerg rush" school while the Makrura focus more on expensive heavy hitters. (Like giant siege hydras, and "transport turtles" like in older versions of Warcraft.) But I can't be sure that they work, until I get feedback from people who have played these races.

The single-player campaign will include a version of this map as the first mission, with later missions pitting you against more Naga, the Night Elves, the Horde, and underwater demons.

It would be pretty cool if you made underwater terrain for your murfolk map.

I would test it out but I can't host games, and the enemies don't seem to have any AI, so they just stand there. Still, it looks like it would be cool online.

Yes, I should have mentioned that the space map was two-player and the Murloc map was four-player. My bad. :(

Is Among The Stars considered to be complete?

If so, would you mind if I expanded it? Of course you'd still be mentioned as the original map creator.

Somebody on the Hive asked me the same question, and I'm going to give the same answer:

I'm perfectly all right with people using the basic "terrain" for their own space maps. I'm proud that something I've done is worth other people building on...and anyway, I didn't make up what local space looks like. :) But I do consider the units and races as my own. I'd very strongly prefer that if you're making an "ATS"-based map, that you use units and races of your own...and you probably feel the same way!
