[World] French cafes set to ban smoking

France is poised to extend its smoking ban to bars, cafes, restaurants and discos, but the measure will not be enforced fully until 2 January.

The health ministry said smokers would be allowed a 24-hour "grace" period for the New Year festivities.

The ban, which will also cover casinos and hotels, comes on top of a partial ban on smoking in public places that took effect in February.

This is simply idiotic. They did it here too. I'm not a smoker, but anyone has the right to smoke. What I do support though, is forcing cafes to have two seperate areas for smokers and non-smokers.

That doesn't help the non-smoking waiters/waitresses that have to do the service in both areas.

Rheias, I feel we also have the right to walk through somewhere, and not have to smell the nasty smell that comes from smoking.

We have the right NOT to endure second hand smoke, I whole-heartedly agree with this.

Smoking has absolutely no benefits. Why should we have to suffer just because they want a few seconds of relief or for whatever reason they smoke for?

I'm all for this law.
