The explosion was felt 1000 km away, and the mushroom cloud was 60 km high. The explosion could be even felt, and seen in Finland, where even windows broke.
Actually, the bomb was believed to be around 57 megatons. Capable of inflicting 3rd degree burns at 100km. It was actually capable of 100 mt, but it was reduced so as to give the flight crew time to escape the fireball.
I would have been crapping myself if I was piloting that plane.
Also never seen actual detailed footage of the test... until now!
What documentry was this from? It sounds like Tiff Needle was the guy doing the narration.
Also also, has anyone seen Trinity and Beyond? That is one brilliant (if a little innaccurate in places) documentry of the American Nuclear tests, with some others thrown in for good measure.
I do know this - xenforo dropped the ball by not keeping the vbulletin reputation comments as a feature. The loss of the Reputation comments data when we switched to Xenforo really was the death knell for the site when it came to all the users that left. I know I missed it so much and I got way less interested in the site when that feature was gone and I run the site.
