In responce to reading Orc_Tamer's Alpha Skinning for PhotoShop, How do i alpha skin exactly?
Select all you layers and make them visible (click the box with the eye). You should have your image all red, don't worry about that just ignore that. Select your Alpha Layer and start to edit your skin.
It doesn't explain how to alpha skin at all, just to "edit" it, I've tried 2 Things, Adding to the alpha selection and brushing out the things i wanted to remove. Neither Worked, so can somebody explain properly how to alpha skin and i will +rep.
Thanks in advance.

when you open the skin in psp and choose the layers tab there should be one called alpha. all you need to is select it and then use black color to alpha skin something.

I must sound so so stupid ...
anyway, that doesn't help I'm using PhotoShop CS2. I selected Alpha 1 Channel and using the brush tool i brushed out his weapon and part of his leg (the only reason he is pink is because i want to know i have the right path):

I saved it to a 32bit tag converted to blp and imported into my wcIII this is how it looked ingame:
(the path is: "Units/Orc/Grunt/Grunt.blp")

so where am i going wrong?

I encounter the same problem with Photoshop 7. I reached the conclusion that the program simply doesn't saves the alpha channel, but I'm not sure and I don't know why. Also, I did not found a way to solve it. I would also +rep if someone helps us to solve this.

what software are you using to convert TGA -> BLP? i recommend Warcraft 3 Viewer since Image Extractor may skip saving the alpha sometimes.

All PS what are capable of saving alpha layers, save them. Maybe you forgot to save the selection?

The thing is that, when i save the file as a TGA, it doesn't allows me to check the box that says 'Save selection' It's disabled.

Hmmm, locked? Maybe its in the PS options prefrences?

I have PS 7-8 including cs 2. All these allow me to save alpha layers.

I did not found any option that could block that in the Preferences.

Photoshop 7.0 has a problem with saving alpha skins in TGAs. You will need to download patch 7.0.1 or later.

Here is upgrade to 7.0.8. :)

Crazy how much 3d printing has come in the last few years. Sad that it's not as easily modifiable though
  • Varine Varine:
I bought an Ender 3 during the pandemic and tinkered with it all the time. Just bought a Sovol, not as easy. I'm trying to make it use a different nozzle because I have a fuck ton of Volcanos, and they use what is basically a modified volcano that is just a smidge longer, and almost every part on this thing needs to be redone to make it work
  • Varine Varine:
Luckily I have a 3d printer for that, I guess. But it's ridiculous. The regular volcanos are 21mm, these Sovol versions are about 23.5mm
  • Varine Varine:
So, 2.5mm longer. But the thing that measures the bed is about 1.5mm above the nozzle, so if I swap it with a volcano then I'm 1mm behind it. So cool, new bracket to swap that, but THEN the fan shroud to direct air at the part is ALSO going to be .5mm to low, and so I need to redo that, but by doing that it is a little bit off where it should be blowing and it's throwing it at the heating block instead of the part, and fuck man
  • Varine Varine:
I didn't realize they designed this entire thing to NOT be modded. I would have just got a fucking Bambu if I knew that, the whole point was I could fuck with this. And no one else makes shit for Sovol so I have to go through them, and they have... interesting pricing models. So I have a new extruder altogether that I'm taking apart and going to just design a whole new one to use my nozzles. Dumb design.
  • Varine Varine:
Can't just buy a new heatblock, you need to get a whole hotend - so block, heater cartridge, thermistor, heatbreak, and nozzle. And they put this fucking paste in there so I can't take the thermistor or cartridge out with any ease, that's 30 dollars. Or you can get the whole extrudor with the direct driver AND that heatblock for like 50, but you still can't get any of it to come apart
  • Varine Varine:
Partsbuilt has individual parts I found but they're expensive. I think I can get bits swapped around and make this work with generic shit though
