Digimon "Metamorphosis" Question

Hi guys, i just started map editing a few days ago and I'm stilling getting the hang of things. I learn pretty quickly and i used to make complex maps for Starcraft back in the day.

Anyways I am working on a Digimon style defense map. Basically you got two heroes, a digimon and their trainer. Right now I'm trying to solve the whole 'metamorphosis problem'. Here is the basic idea:

  1. Start with a basic hero (Stage 1)
  2. It has an ability to upgrade to a more advanced hero (Stage 2).
  3. It also has the ability to downgrade to a weaker hero (Stage 0).
  4. When the stage 2 unit runs out of mana they go back to stage 1.
  5. A stage 2 unit can advance to stage 3 if you have an item.

I have tinkered around with the demon hunter's metamorphosis and made it permanent by setting the duration to 0. However it doesn't get a new skill set. How do i make it so that the new unit gets new skills? Do i need to use triggers or is there a simpler way to do it?

Hero skills stay when unit metamorphs. If you want to change them, use triggers or set skills to Normal (not Hero skill, not Item skill).

cant you just make 3 diffent Units and use tiggers to make em change, in example.

S1Char, S2Char, S3Char.

S1Char Mana = 100 {
change unit into S2Char
}

S2Char Mana = 200 && has item {
change unit into S3Char
}

then have a summon SFX when the Digimon downgrade or upgrade.
im sure there is a way to do it in tigger editor. but this is an example and theory of how i would do it.
