Definitely the video's quality, having nothing to do with the singer's quality.

... because people appreciate it more? It doesn't make the singing any better.

Just hearing the voice on its own was amazing. I think I understand where ElderKingpin was coming from, in that it is much nicer to hear it with the accompaniment, the song being so bare without it.

I don't think it's entirely the voice that sets the mood, though. If the voice was singing a completely different style of music, it probably wouldn't fit in the scenario you described. However, the song being sung was written for that style of scene, and so it would fit a similar scene perfect.
