Issues with periodic unit spawning.

So I've ran into the wall with this one. Simple trigger to
cause zerglings (modified zerglings) spawning at point X, causes
tremendeous amount of lag.

Code:
Spawn Zerglings
    Events
        Timer - Every 18.0 seconds of Game Time
    Local Variables
    Conditions
    Actions
        Unit Group - Pick each unit in ZergBases and do (Actions)
            Actions
                Unit - Create 1 Zergling  NEW for player (Owner of (Picked unit)) at (Position of (Picked unit)) facing 270.0 degrees (No Options)

Anyone out there know what am I doing wrong?

P.S I have pretty good amount of experience with Wc3 WE.

My guess would be that you have way to many units in your ZergBases unit group. As a result, too many units are being created which is causing the lag (you are creating 1 zergling for every unit in the unit group).

I actually found way around this today, using Zerg larva spawner ability. I find it hard to believe that only 4 units within that unitgroup could cause paralyzing lag.

If that was your first time loading that unit it would take the game a while at first to create the unit.
Use the Preload trigger to get around that lag.
