Tutorial Making MUI spells in GUI

lol, ok.. well I figured out where the "26" was coming from, but let me see if I can articulate it better. As you have the spell designed, when you click Meteor Shower, Meteor Dummy's (the Starfall comet effect) begin raining from the sky. From the time you start the spell until it finishes on its own, 26 Meteor Dummy's are created and 26 Starfall comet effects fall from the sky. What I didn't know is that the duration for the spell in the Object Editor is the field:

Data - Follow Through Time 20.00

20.00 / .75 = ~26, hence the number of comets that fall from the sky

I didn't understand why 26 Meteor Dummy's were being created until I discovered this, lol. Hope that makes more sense.

As far as my own trigger goes, I gave up on a GUI solution, broke down and learned and already wrote it in JASS. MUI problem fixed :D As soon as I have the leaks cleaned up, I'll post my JASS version.

I now finally understand your system, Flare, but it's definitely got some overhead and a learning curve. Well, in your defense, you did disclaim that some pre-knowledge (that I was lacking) would help :p

The group thing is only needed for GUI because it helps to make something MUI (not in all cases, but possible for all cases...depending on how you do it). Using JASS wouldn't require you to utilise the unit group. It's more direct and less complicated.

For your wait thing, you just need localise an integer and implement Flare's tutorial.
Code:
Example
Event
Condition
Actions
Custom script: local integer udg_LocalInteger
If Integer < 1000 then
   Set Integer = Integer +1
Else
   Set Integer = 0
Set Local_Integer = Integer
---------------------------------------------------
Set Unit[Local_Integer] = YourUnit
---other actions---
Wait 4.00 seconds
---other actions---
Wait 4.00 seconds
---other actions---
Unit - Kill Unit[Local_Integer]

The above is MUI.

Could you explain this further? This is something that I could REALLY use further on :).

If I were to set the movement speed of a unit to something, wait 10 seconds and then set it back to default. How was I to do that? Tried, couldn't make it work :)

Well, using that method...
Trigger:
  • Example
    • Events
    • Conditions
    • Actions
      • Custom Script: local integer udg_MS
      • Set MS = Unit's current movespeed
      • Set (Unit's) move speed to MS + 40
      • Wait 10 seconds
      • Set (Unit's) move speed to MS

With MS declared as a global integer variable in the variable editor. The local MS will override it when declared with the custom script. This can only be done with one variable per trigger.

Also, you would probably need a unit array there too, unless you were using (Triggering Unit). That would probably mean you need an integer array and a unit array to store both the unit and it's movespeed, with a localised integer as the index.

this is very helpfull!
however what about systems that dont have triggering unit? or a targeted unit?
its kinda hard for me but ill try and work around it, thanks anyways :)
