multiple skins, but one model

Is there any way to have the same model, but with multiple skins. for example, three different types of bandits, each using the bandit model, but each with a different skin

From what i recall, its impossible, but prove me wrong. Otherwise, is there a way to extract the Bandit.mdl and just re import it under a new name, and new skin?
