Permanent Immolation to damage sleeping units?

I've created quite a few custom spells that use dummy units with Permanent Immolation and AoE damage upon death. However, i failed to take into account when creating these spells, that sleeping units won't be damaged by the Immolation. Is there a known good method to work around this?

So far i've thought of:
1. Giving the dummies an attack with 0 damage, but even then you'd have to order them to attack the units.
2. Picking unit groups around the dummies and making the caster damage them for 1 (maybe 0) damage using 'Damage Target', to wake them up.

Any advice or better ideas?

You can change this now in User CP.

The easy way would be to make all units be awake at all times ;)

But I take that is not an option. When you are so far into the development of your map I would make use of the second option you wrote.
