hey guys, so im looking for a new wireless router (my current dlink wbr-2310 is absolutely horrible) and i was wondering if there would be any noticeable speed improvements by buying a type n verses a type g if my computer does not support type n? also i was wondering if you guys had any suggestions? i'm forced to buy from amazon since i have a giftcard there and was looking for something around $50. so far i've found these that seem decent

btw, if its at all necessary, i will have up to 4 laptops connected at one time as well as a ps3.

thanks for any info

if your computer does not support N, then the connection between your computer and your router will be at G speeds (unless they are wired of course)

I think the 2nd one is the best out of the ones you posted, it's a very reliable model and it supports other firmware if you need extra options

it's not N but like I said above you wouldn't benefit from N anyways, and most people are misinformed as to what N would actually improve - it would not improve your internet speed, it would improve the speed of local transfers/streaming

also to have both G and N from the same router at the same time means having a expensive router (>$100) that has "simultaneous dual band" capabilites

ok cool, i read some more reviews about the 2nd router and it looked good to me so i went ahead and ordered it.

also to have both G and N from the same router at the same time means having a expensive router (>$100) that has "simultaneous dual band" capabilites

thats something i didnt know. i just assumed that any type n router would be able to simultaneously broadcast (not sure if thats the right terminology) g and n.
thanks for all the help!
