Summoned unit stop expiration

I have this small problem with stopping the expiration timer of a unit, this is what i tried to use
JASS:

call UnitRemoveAbility(u, 'BFig')

but that killed the unit instantly like the timer expired. I need this because i sometimes want to add to the expiration timer more time but this didn't work:
JASS:

call UnitApplyTimedLife(u, 'BFig', t)

replacing the unit is the very last thing i want to do right now but if its the only way it'll be ok. One more thing, if i replace a hero will his xp, items, skills remain or do i have to save that first and will the specific unit functions like Unit - Kill(unit) where the unit was selected while triggering work

Have you tried [ljass]native UnitPauseTimedLife takes unit whichUnit, boolean flag returns nothing[/ljass] yet?

i mean stopping it so that its completely gone because when i call the remove all buffs function it will kill any summoned unit..., i made some system with polled wait so that it simulates a expiration timer when one existed, its quite ok
