Crime Swimming Coach Accused of Making Girl Practice While Wearing Dog Collar and Leash

On this week's episode of "Brian Ross Investigates," ABC News Chief Investigative Correspondent Brian Ross speaks with former Olympic hopeful Jancy Thompson, who filed the fifth sexual misconduct lawsuit against USA Swimming in a sex abuse scandal that continues to escalate.

Thompson, now 28, tells Ross her California swim coach began to abuse her at age 15.

"He told me that he could give me the recipe to being an Olympics swimmer, so I trusted him that he wouldn't hurt me, that he would take me to the Olympics," Thompson, who entered law enforcement after quitting swimming, tells Ross. "So what he said was what I believed, and I didn't know any better."

Her coach even humiliated her at practice by making her wear a dog collar with a leash attached to it, which her coach held while she swam laps at the pool, Thompson says.

Wait, what? All he did was use a leash. With just the information in that article, how is there anything sexual about it? Honestly, perhaps it's perfectly valid to use something like that for training!..

This just seems like a ridiculous take on something uncommon. If he used it to hold her still while she practised her strokes, perhaps it would help him correct her technique, whereas if she's moving maybe it's difficult or there's things that are harder to learn. Why the assumption that it's sexual?

I sort of agree. From the sounds of the article it just sounds like an aquatic version of a weight sled they use for training sprinters, runners, football players, etc etc. I've done some white water rescue training and people wear weighted vests and stuff like that in order to train for dragging people out of the deep. Is this really all that different?
