Texas Obtaining License Laws

So I'm coming up to my 18th this sunday, and heard from a friend that I still need Driver's Ed even if I'm 18 in order to obtain my license.

Is this true?

That is false. You dont need drivers ed or anything if you are 18 years or older in TX. You just need to be able to pass the written exam and drivers test and have everything else they require (SS# etc.)

Thanks TH. Heard it's going into effect March 1st according to DPS which sucks for all obtaining after that.

It's the same way here, if you're 18+, you can walk in and pass the written and driving and you have your license.
