I'm making a unit that can hold 4 units. I want the units who enter the vehicle can attack. Meaning if the vehicle is near an enemy the units inside the vehicle should attack, just like they are shooting from the window.
do you want the car to shoot only when its loaded, or be able to shoot while its moving? those are the primary concerns, both are possible at the same time but the strat is different for each
He wants the car to shoot, while is loaded, moving and make it like it where the units attacking not the car.
here you have a few problems:
1: 1 unit that shoot more than 1 projetile? and how do you make the car to shoot the amount of projectiles according to the units inside?
2: what about the Missiles grafic? it will be fixed or change deppending on the units inside??
3: the damage, attack speed, etc.
It seems reallly complicated to me.
there is an ability (pheonix ability) that shoots a projectile every few seconds, you could have 1 of these customized for each unit and add it as then enter, that works for the combination, the others would be adding the orc burrow ability to the unit, which causes it to stop attacking when nothing is loaded inside, the last would be to just give it a basic pheonix ability so it could always attack while moving
The first way would look best, but:
1: if the map has 20 hero, it will need to make 20 customized skills.
2: the attack speed and damage of the car will differ from the unit that is inside.
I mind, the skills have fixed values, if the hero lvl up, buy items, have pasive or whatever that increase damage/atck speed, when they enter the car those values will not be the same on the car attack. am i wrong?
1: yes, thats true, high quality means more work
2: the attack speed and damage could be hard to do or easy, if the attacks are all alike in missle type (machine guns/things like that for space marine type games (common to see that)) then all he would need to make are the attack speeds and damage, this could be done with 20 abilities with 100 ranks more than likely, sure that seems like a lot, but that is NOTHING compared to many many maps
other than these ways, this is not possible with basic gui triggering, he would need to learn vjass or become verry advanced with triggering and since he is asking for this i can assume he isnt either at the moment and people would generally drop something like this rather than go that in depth
What GFreak suggests is most likely the best way to do it.
The ability is called Phoenix Fire, this ability stacks but only by adding it through separate sources, such as
Items - If an item has a customized version of phoenix fire it will not conflict with other items with the same ability
Spellbooks - actually i haven't tested this yet, but it should work; add an spellbook with the custom phoenix fire to the unit and disable the spellbook, the phoenix fire should remain, to remove it, remove the spellbook.
There is another way of doing it ofc; instead of having the vehicle load the unit, trigger the whole thing (would require lots of more work) and make the units move along the vehicle (using SetUnitX and SetUnitY custom script) and hide them (using the GUI command to hide units.) this way the units that are "loaded" into the vehicle will still be able to attack, and the player loses control of them until "unloaded"
I don't think I'm dealing with quite the same pressures though, at the very least its a significantly smaller system. For the time being I'm just going to put together a quick scrubby box though and hope it works good enough to not make my house toxic
I do know this - xenforo dropped the ball by not keeping the vbulletin reputation comments as a feature. The loss of the Reputation comments data when we switched to Xenforo really was the death knell for the site when it came to all the users that left. I know I missed it so much and I got way less interested in the site when that feature was gone and I run the site.
