So you want us to lock up the mother forever and continue to let the kid rot away in front of a TV in his room.

Wonderful decision.

No, I am saying that she needs mental-care if she can't handle to raise her kid:nuts: Any kid in that age would had done exactly the same, this is 2009, not the 1800, sitting down in front of a tv screen like that is not that unhealthy, I have done that all my life and I have turned out just fine.
I think that parents of today worry to much:thdown:

>>I think that parents of today worry to much

I think that parents of today worry too much about some things, and worry far too little about others.

I fail to see how a single mother with four children trying to deal with a kid who is playing Grand Theft Auto past 2 AM deserves mental rehabilitation because of what she did to stop it. She did not murder the kid or anything.

The carring part is not the problem, that is a good thing, but the fact that she get's so upset about it that she breaks down and cries and actually mentions that she have been thinking about running away from her children, to me that does not sound like a person who is fit to handle a child. Read the entire post a few more times next time and you might notice what is important in it:p

I can't wait until he starts staying out late and comes home drunk^^ Then we will see headlines like: "Mom found in the desert after running away from her sons drinking problem" or "Mom of four shot her 18year old son". I actually think that playing games until 2am is actually healthier than drinking alcohol, I mean, when I was his age I was out getting drunk with my pals every weekend, I think that she is lucky that he does not do that instead:rolleyes:

You're right, this isn't the 1800s, therefore we don't lock up women for being "hysterical" anymore.

Video game addiction can be a nightmare for parents, especially a single parent. She might have watched her son lose increasing amounts of time to addiction over a long period, this was only the climax. She unplugged his PlayStation (at 2:30 AM, that's ridiculously late), then he went ballistic, and then she called 911. There is nothing weird or strange about this mother, she was just overwhelmed. She might have a load of other problems in her life, this just added to the mixture and it eventually exploded.

By your logic, we shouldn't despise criminals, because they could always have done something worse. That's contrary to all morals our society is based on, and it is not a kind of morality that's "better" than the one we have now.

Also, you can't compare a serious life-interfering addiction with drinking alcohol in a way that is non-addictive.

I mean, when I was his age I was out getting drunk with my pals every weekend, I think that she is lucky that he does not do that instead:rolleyes:

What you did in your adolesence is irrelevant to this thread, what we're discussing is whether or not this mother acted irresponsibly, which I'd say that she didn't.

exactly my point of view.

i can understand why most of us are against this case here... its because most of us plays games and are a teenager basically. So therefore we are always looking from that point of view, why don't you try and step inside the mothers shoe and see it from her world and you might realize things isn't so crazy anymore.

T.s.e: Seriously dude, I was never talking about the fact that she called the police, it might have been a little exhagurated of her but perhaps it was nessecary.
I am talking about the fact that she even mentioned that she thought about running away from her children. I don't know what you think about this, but to me that is not the words of a fit parent. A parent should never ever give up on their children:nuts:

But she didn't run away, did she? She stayed, that's the end of it. Running away may seem abhorrant to even think about, but focus more on the fact that she stayed, in spite of it all.
