does wc3 even have AA? or would you need to turn it on elsewhere (ati control center/nvidia control panel)?

anyways I find that it's actually easier /w some games if the FPS is lower (~20 for DMC4 for example) - it slows down and works almost like a time cheat (turbo button style)

You need to hope the whole game slows down, not just the frame rate. Otherwise it is much much worse.

With Windows 7 you can choose how much ram program categories can use (Games, Internet, Programs, etc). You find it in the Control Panel somewhere. My Photoshop was set to 128mb ram by default D:, used 20 minutes on startup.
Might fix your problem. I have never experience lag with WC3, not even with our old computer with 512mb ram -.-
